What restorative dental care options are available at Gentle Dentistry of Columbus?

Below are some of the services offered at our practice for restorative dentistry:

  • Full arch restorations. Full arch restorations cover all the existing teeth in each arch with dental crowns on every tooth. This can address severe wear on teeth from grinding and clenching too often and for too long. This type of fix helps to open up the person’s top and bottom teeth to make the teeth look young again. This additional height to people’s teeth lengthens the face, which in turn makes the person appear years younger!
  • Dental crowns. Dental crowns, often referred to by our patients as “porcelain caps,” are designed to cover the visible portion of a tooth to protect the tooth. It can be used over a tooth that has broken, chipped, has cracks in it, experienced significant damage, or has undergone root canal therapy.
  • Dental bridges. Similar to dental crowns, a bridge is like the name says; it is a bridge that goes across a missing tooth area.  There is a dental crown on each side of the missing tooth area with a fake dental crown in the missing tooth area that is fused to each dental crown on either side of the space.  All of those crowns are one long fused-together bridge that spans the space.  That way, when it is cemented into place, it has the appearance that the patient still has all of the teeth in that area.  This tooth replacement option can replace one or more teeth in a row depending on what teeth are missing and where in the mouth the missing teeth are located.  One of the benefits of this option is a non-removable option once the bridge is cemented into place, so there is no chance of misplacing it or the dog getting a hold of it!
  • Complete dentures. Our team uses full dentures to replace all the teeth in the arch if patients are not able to save their existing teeth or do not have any teeth left.  This is also an option if the patient is not a proper candidate for implant-supported dentures. Conventional dentures are removable and are held in the mouth using denture adhesives and suction.  They are a replacement for having NO teeth.
  • Partial dentures. With partial dentures, patients can replace one or several teeth along the arch with an appliance made from either a metal or a type of plastic framework that snaps into the mouth using the existing teeth for support and stability. Partial dentures are removable and straightforward to care for.  They are removable, though so one must make sure to keep up with them and not forget them if taken out.
